Modular Homes in New Jersey

As early as 1964, New Jersey embraced modular home industry in their state. This includes the cities of Easton, Atlantic, Newark, Lakewood, Patterson, North Wildwood, Sayreville, Philadelphia, Vineland and Trenton. Styles that were typically seen at these areas of New Jersey are Ranch Modular Homes and Cape Cod Modular type of home.

Because of the overwhelming popularity of modular homes in New Jersey, even building contractors prefer to have a modular home of their own. Lee Spencer of Florence, New Jersey, a general contractor, lost his home because of the fire brought about by the faulty wiring. He never thought of any other option but to replace his old dwelling with a modular home. Lee Spencer said that he wanted to have this kind of lair because of the advantages he can get. Spencer knew that modular homes are better than a stick-home (or traditional on-site built homes) especially those modular home building company based in New Jersey. The contractor is also aware of the excellent quality of the materials since modular homes will be delivered on site when it was almost completely done from the factory. He is aware that building materials were stored in a weather-pollutant-free environment. And within three to four months, he and his family can already occupy their new home.

Aside from the facts mentioned by Lee Spencer, modular homes can also save buyers from five to fifteen percent less compared to those typical on-site built homes. What’s more important is that the designs can also be as attractive and expansive like any other dwellings built on site. Nobody will ever notice that it is a modular home unless someone says so. Every year, more and more families prefer to have modular homes instead. As a matter of fact, in 1999 there are only more or less 8,000 modular homes built in New Jersey. But in the year 2006, almost 15,000 modular homes were built in the said state. Currently, modular homes ate 11 percent of all single-family homes constructed in New Jersey.

All modular homes in New Jersey complies with the standard building codes set by the local state and codes set by the HUD or the Department of  Housing and Urban Development. May it be a ranch (the single-story type of modular home) or a cape-cod (two-story type of modular dwelling). The inspection standards includes the whole design and construction of the house, its resistance to fire and harsh weather conditions, the durability and strength to withstand natural wind, rain and sudden change of climate that may cause rusts and molds, the ability of the modular home to be transported from one place or state (factory) to the other (site where it would be built) and whether if it is energy efficient or not.

Because the modular industry has been gaining popularity in New Jersey, not only places for a family to live in are constructed using modular process. There are also hospitals, churches or chapels, schools for kindergarten, apartments and even offices are now built by the modular industry.
